SUP - Stand Up Paddling in Cape Town
On Hawaii SUPing was known to be the king's sport. Only a few selected besides him were allowed to move around on a board while standing up.
Meanwhile everyone enjoys this sport and SUPing has become an integral part of water sports. The sport has become very big here. Whether you prefer SUPing in the canal, in waves or simply down-winding: Cape Town will meet all your requirements.
Tuesdays you can race at the canal in Century City and enjoy a 5 km race. Wednesdays there is a race from Milnerton to Big Bay 30 km downwind, and Thursdays race in the harbor of the Waterfront for 5 km.
If you're a lady, this is for you: every Thursday morning at 09.00 in front of the Ons Huisie restaurant at Smallbay the SUPSistas meet and will get you on the water. A small fee is donated to charity. The fee allows you to rent a board and get out with the girls. They will show you tips and tricks and introduce you to the fun of SUPing.
